Eastern Iowa Dermatology PLC was founded in 2004 by Dr. Manish Kumar, a board-certified dermatologist with 20 years of clinical experience. His mission is to always provide courteous, competent, and compassionate care to patients. 

Certified by the American Board of Dermatology, Dr. Kumar has published six peer-reviewed scientific articles and many public education newspaper articles. He has also presented on numerous occasions at international scientific meetings. 

Dr. Kumar attends annual meetings of the American Academy of Dermatology and stays current with all the latest treatments for skin disorders. 

As a diplomat of the American Board of Dermatology, he enthusiastically participates in the Modules of Certification program. This includes educational activities, peer and patient reviews, online didactics, and self-improvement exercises.

More About Dr. Kumar (click here for CV)

Dr. Kumar and his dedicated and professional staff take tremendous pride in doing whatever it takes to help patients improve the health of their skin. 

Dr. Kumar is a medical dermatologist. He is not a cosmetic dermatologist. For example, if a severe psoriasis patient needs biologic treatment, Dr. Kumar and his medical assistants will willingly fill out prior authorizations and paperwork for biologic medication. 

Dr. Kumar has a strict medical dermatology practice. He routinely treats severe psoriasis, cystic acne, recalcitrant eczema, and large skin cancers. He takes pride in solving medically challenging cases.

His peers and patients speak very highly of him, according to recent surveys conducted by the American Board of Dermatology.

Dr. Kumar grew in the Midwest and graduated Valedictorian of his class from Angola High School in Angola, IN, in 1989. 

In 1991, he earned a four-year B.S. Degree in biology and chemistry in just two years with a 4.0-GPA (on a 4.0-point scale).

Dr. Kumar went on to Indiana University School of Medicine in Indianapolis and graduated in 1995 with honors in many subjects. He did an internship at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit for one year and then completed a very competitive dermatology residency at Indiana University in 1999.

The doctor practiced in Indiana from 1999 to 2004, when he came to Quad Cities. He speaks fluent English, is an American Citizen, is married, and has two children. 

Eastern Iowa Dermatology PLC has a modern facility with adjustable exam rooms. Biopsies or excisions may be performed in each well-equipped exam room. 

We use Electronic Health Records to maintain patient information. In addition, we have a hand / foot narrow-band UVB machine and a full-body, narrow-band UVB machine for treating patients. 

Out staff uses the TRUE patch test for allergic contact dermatitis with 36 allergens in three panels.
